Failure of 'Double-Engine' education system in various states

While Odisha's school textbooks have 1678 errors, the crooked examination machinery fails once again with the TET paper leak in Maharashtra. Incompetency and ignorance of the BJP led double-engine governments exposed once again, yet no accountability taken.

On the 27th of June the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in Maharashtra was postponed after suspicions of paper leak by the ruling "double-engine" BJP-NDA government of the state affecting more than 6 lakh aspiring students. The BJP led double-engine NDA government has completely failed to contain the paper leak of government examinations both at the union and state level. TET examination paper leak in Maharashtra is the newest edition to the list of failures of the NDA government. All these failures go unchecked and unaccounted for in the double-engine NDA government exposing it's anti-student face.

Also, in another alarming news, the recently published and distributed school education books in Odisha have been found to have thousands of errors. A report has identified 1678 spelling, factual, historical, geographical and contextual errors in the Odia textbooks from Class I to VIII for the academic year 2026-27. These mistakes expose the incompetency of the BJP led double-engine government and puts to fore their priority to carry out publicity stunts in order to sway public opinion rather than actually putting effort in the framing and executing effective education policies. Another instance suggests that the newly elected BJP government in West Bengal is surrendering 51 ITIs in private hands.

The Students' Federation of India (SFI) comprehends these incidents as deliberate attempts of the double-engine government to push the corporate-communal agenda of the RSS-BJP. We strongly reiterate our demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who has been a central figure in the designing of this "Leaktantra" and the destruction of the country's education system.

SFI further demands the resignation of the School Education Minister of Maharashtra and the School and Mass Education Minister of Odisha, an impartial and speedy state level enquiry into Maharashtra's TET examination paper leak and Odisha's erroneous textbook mismanagement, and take strict legal action against the culprits of these incidents. SFI reaffirms our commitment to struggle for a scientific, socialist, democratic and progressive education system.
