SFI is a people-funded movement. It takes no corporate or government money — your contribution keeps it independent.
Over five decades of standing with students — sustained entirely by the people it organises.
Founded in 1970, the Students’ Federation of India grew out of decades of student organising into one of the country’s largest and oldest student movements. From its earliest days it has stood for an education that is independent, democratic and rooted in the needs of ordinary students.
For over five decades SFI has organised on campuses across the country — defending the right to education, widening access, and standing with students through every major struggle. Today it counts over 43 lakh members across 24 state committees, guided by three goals: independence, democracy and socialism.
SFI has always refused corporate and government funding. Its work — campaigns, relief drives, publications and the everyday organising that keeps the movement alive — is sustained by the small contributions of students, teachers and well-wishers. That independence is the source of its strength, and the reason your contribution matters.
Contributions can be made by direct bank transfer using the details on the right. Every rupee goes towards sustaining the movement’s independent work.
